MintPress News condemns the displays of hate drawn on the Royal Oak Synagogue by Randi Nord, a former writer that contributed to MintPress in 2018 on a freelance basis. As an anti-racist, pro-peace news outlet, we strongly oppose this display of hate and bigotry and any attacks on religious communities.
MintPress News employs several Jewish writers and celebrates the diversity of our staff to come together to promote unity among our brothers and sisters in humanity.
Nord’s actions were a stark departure from the values of respect, empathy, and mutual understanding – values journalism outlets like ours seek to uphold. However, Randi Nord’s working relationship with MintPress News was very short-lived.
MintPress terminated Nord’s freelance agreement in early 2020 for reasons that, unfortunately, we have been advised cannot be disclosed due to employee privacy laws.
Her articles were quickly removed from our website at that time.
While we and the public are waiting to learn more details of the case, we stand in solidarity with the Jewish community of Royal Oak Synagogue and all religious communities who face intimidation and distress for practicing their faith.
