Damning reports confirm dozens of casualties amongst US navy sailors and marines in Iranian attacks this month, as the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) seize another American unmanned submarine in the Strait of Hormuz. Nine US marines and a total of twenty-nine sailors have been confirmed injured as a result of the ongoing war on Iran over the past month. What makes these particular figures so significant is that US Central Command is no longer even bothering to engage in tit-for-tat exchanges with the Islamic Republic in order to uphold their image of strength.
On The Target stream we look at the emerging reports that US President Donald Trump’s Ministry of War is set to replace their USS George Washington aircraft carrier strike group with the USS Theodore Roosevelt. This comes following Iranian claims that they launched a missile attack that managed to inflict damage to the USS George Washington, along with an accompanying Destroyer.
The Israeli media has also been expressing its concern over the withdrawal of American and NATO alliance forces from Iraqi territory, indicating that the lack of US presence could embolden Iraq’s resistance factions who possess weapons capable of striking Tel Aviv. Meanwhile, Iran has been conducting waves of ballistic missile and drone strikes on Israeli-backed Kurdish militant groups in northern Iraq. According to reports, Tehran has conducted over 1,000 strikes on Israeli and US-backed Kurdish militant groups since early March.
Iran’s IRGC also seized a modern US surveillance submarine in the Strait of Hormuz. The REMUS 600 was seized through electronic warfare methods, it is the second unmanned submarine seized this month by the Iranian navy. The first was a DIVE-LD submarine, which was a significant loss for the United States navy as it will now be reversed engineered by Iran’s domestic weapons industry.
Yemen’s Armed Forces continue to deliver blows to Saudi Arabia’s oil facilities, conducting routine attacks on military targets located near Riyadh itself, as Saudi-proxy forces continue to suffer major defeats on the battlefield. As a result, the impending capture of the strategically important city of Taiz has resulted in Saudi airstrikes on civilian targets in the city.
The main road connecting Taiz City to the Saudi-proxy stronghold in Aden has been cut. Following this development, Riyadh decided to conduct airstrikes targeting a civilian market place inside the city itself, taking out food storage sites.
