“Not only have we spent billions on these hunks of metal waste, we’re still buying more. We’re still building more.” — Eleanor Goldfield on the F-35
In a recent episode of Act Out! Eleanor Goldfield looks at the disastrous F-35, one of the most expensive military vehicles ever developed, and quickly becoming one of the biggest, most disastrous failures as well.
Shadowproof’s Dan Wright recently wrote of the $1.5 trillion dollar program, “If people are looking to get spending by the federal government under control by cutting waste, fraud, and abuse, as some presidential candidates claim, perhaps the F-35 is the place to start: it has all three.”
Eleanor questions what that money could buy for regular people:
“Imagine what one plane would do for a teacher? A family living on the streets staring back at a foreclosed home? One kid dying of cancer?”
She also offers a few possible solutions for the problem, inspired by Smedley Butler.
