Where Should American Muslims Stand In The American Political System?

November 22, 2016 By Ali Salaam 2 Comments

Over 70 percent of American Muslims said they would likely vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016 in a poll conducted by the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), leaving 12 percent undecided and 5 percent voting for either the Green or Libertarian Party.

But is the Democratic Party the rightful home for American Muslims, or as Malcolm X said in his autobiography, are American Muslims being duped by the liberal sly fox?

On all major issues, a President Hillary Clinton would be just as detrimental to the American Muslim community as President-elect Donald Trump.

What Will Millennials Tell Their Children & Grandchildren?

October 26, 2016 By Kevin Patrick Kelly 2 Comments

In less than two weeks, Hillary Clinton will be elected president.

Donald Trump’s vulgar outbursts and invective against our society’s most marginalized have run their course. His strain of demagoguery has done irreparable harm to the Republican Party. As a result, the GOP may lose both the House and the Senate, and could give Clinton the seats necessary to enact her policy prescriptions.

Yet no president entering the White House has been more detrimental to millennials than Hillary Clinton. She supported trade agreements which transported America’s manufacturing base into countries that welcome corporations with open arms. She supported legislation that incarcerated an entire generation of young African American men and women. She sent millennials to every armed conflict since 9/11, and she associates with the very corporate forces that brought the American economy to its knees in 2008.

Jill Stein: Being Called A ‘Spoiler’ Means We’re A Threat To The Establishment

August 24, 2016 By Kevin Patrick Kelly 3 Comments

With public opinion showing that Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are the two most unpopular presidential nominees ever to be nominated by their respective parties, this could be the year of the third party.

One such candidate for disillusioned voters is the Green Party nominee for President, Dr. Jill Stein. Stein, who was previously her party’s nominee for the 2012 presidential contest, believes that her candidacy can gain serious traction among voters who detest voting for Trump, as well as Bernie Sanders supporters who feel betrayed by the Democratic National Committee and believe that Clinton will renege on her newfound progressive pledges.

Last week, Stein and I spoke briefly about the need for social movements, Donald Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric, Hillary Clinton’s foreign policy, and being labeled a “spoiler.”

Kevin Patrick Kelly: Similar to Bernie Sanders, your campaign, to me, is bigger than any presidential campaign: it is part of the broader progressive movement growing in this country. How do you think your campaign contributes to that movement?
